Office Space’s 20th Anniversary –  #youhavemystapler!

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 50th entry, I’ll be talking about the 20th anniversary of the film Office Space! If you have never seen the film, check out the trailer below, and after that stop reading this, go watch the damn movie, and then come back here!

I am pretty sure that it is safe to say… Office Space is a cult comedy classic at this point. Well it has been for a long time, maybe even since it was released on this day 20 years ago. TWENTY YEARS…MAN!!! Has it really been that long? Yes it sure as shit has! Mike Judge, whom I knew only from his Beavis & Butthead and King of the Hill work, the man created a masterpiece in this film. Taking the mundane office job type of setting, and putting a great story behind it. I’m pretty sure I never saw the film in theaters, and as far as I can remember it might have been late 2000 to early 2001, before I saw it on media release. However once I did see the film, I fell in love with it. It’s easily one of the most quotable movies in the last 20 years! Time flies right? It seems like it was yesterday when 1999 was here. I’ve watched Office Space many times over the years, and it’s easily one of my most watched comedies. So let us all celebrate by getting our swingline staplers! They have them now… in case you didn’t know. The Office Space Swingline stapler details can be found HERE!

Who is your favorite character from Office Space and what is your favorite line or scene from the film? Let me know in the comments below!

Join me tomorrow morning February 20, 2019 as I’ll be writing about taxi cabs and ride sharing services!

  1. I remember seeing the trailers for it, and it piqued my interest immediately. I just had a feeling I was going to love it, and I did. I can’t recall, but I may have only seen the ads play before a movie I had rented on VHS or DVD; I may not have seen a theatrical trailer on TV or in the theater. But I did see it on home video and not in the theater. The funny thing is that my wife somehow saw it before I did. She did not enjoy it and said it was stupid. I said to her that I didn’t care, I wanted to see it for myself. She watched it with me and we both had a great time with it. She later stated that she wasn’t in the right mindset when she first saw it. Since I worked in an office in IT at the time, this really landed for me. The jokes and characters were so hysterical. I saw the film celebrated its 20th anniversary, which makes me feel old now. But it also reminded me that I haven’t seen this film in a while. So, a re-watch is definitely in order.
