TFG1Mike’s TV Series Talk
Chicago Fire
Season 1
Pilot:
I was suuper excited for this! At the same time I had no idea it was a Dick Wolf production. I was able to see it before it aired on Wednesday October 10, 2012. For the simple reason that iTunes had the Pilot episode for FREE. I saw it and really loved it!!!! I know there have been Fire Department dramas and films in the past, but I can’t think of ones I really was intrigued by.
This however has tons of potential, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
For the first 20 minutes of the pilot, I did not recognize any of the cast. The reason for that is, as I found out they are mainly from shows I have never, nor have I ever watched. The cast includes the following people:
Jesse Spencer as Matthew Casey
Most will know Jesse from House M.D.
Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide
Most will know Taylor from Breakout Kings, Castle, and The Vampire Diaries.
Monica Raymund as Gabriela Dawson
Most will know Monica from Lie to Me and The Good Wife.
Eamonn Walker as Chief Bowden
Most will know Earmonn from Oz, E.R. and Justice.
Lauren German as Leslie Shay
Most will know Lauren from 7th Heaven, A Walk to Remember, Memphis Beat, and many others.
Charlie Barnett as Peter Mills
This guy hasn’t had many entries in his career. He’s been a guest on Law & Order SVU and Criminal Intent, he was also a pilot in MIB3.
David Eigenberg as Christopher Hermann
Most will know him from E.R., Criminal Minds, and more.
Terry Reeves as Hallie Casey
Most will know her from Medium, Rules of Engagement, Days of our Lives, and General Hosputal.
I’m really not sure where this show is going. It seems to be that Law & Order episodic feel, without any real continuity. Sure the promo at the end showed continuing storylines for each character, but this pilot just felt as if there was a beginning, middle, and ending. Without actually leading anywhere. After finishing watching it, I’m excited for future episodes, but I wasn’t on the edge of my seat, as I am with other TV Series. As I stated above I am really loving the concept of the show, and did enjoy everything about it. There were no oh hell no or WTF moments. However as I just stated, not sure where they’ll take it. I think having a virtually unknown cast (at least unknown to me) helps this show. I did throughly enjoy learning more about Fire Department procedures, and the lives that firemen and women lead. You can catch the premiere of Chicago Fire tonight 10pm Eastern/9Central after SVU on NBC.
